VFW `Sponsors' the VVMF/Scruggs Rip-Off of The Moving Wall

What VFW said: (Verbatim Press Release) What it "Really" means:

Kansas City, MO., Feb. 20, 1997, VFW SPONSORS "THE WALL THAT HEALS"

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is the first VSO to sponsor the official traveling version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Unveiled on Veterans Day 1996 and called "The Wall that Heals;" it is the first moving version of the memorial produced by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation, Inc. Although millions experience the healing power of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial each year, millions more have yet to see the memorial. Many lack the resources to make the trip. Others find the experience too painful to endure, particularly among strangers in an unfamiliar city. Still others may not understand the legacy of the Wall, or their own connection with it. The Wall that Heals is a half-scale replica -- exact to the letter and inch -- of the original Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The replica offers the same dramatic reflective quality and because each name is laser-etched into the surface, rubbings of individual names can be taken. When it comes to town, The Wall that Heals brings another memorable experience for those who visit.

Over the years, thousands of articles have been left at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Jungle boots, hats, flags, helmets and many more personal items have been placed at the base of the memorial -- some as a tribute, some as a sign of closure, most without explanation. These items are removed daily, meticulously catalogued and archived in Washington, D.C. On display wherever The Wall that Heals appears is a photographic depiction of the items left at the Wall. As part of the VFW's year-long sponsorship, this dramatic display is emblazoned with the VFW's Cross of Malta. The VFW symbol also appears on the brochures given out at each venue and the trailer transporting The Wall that Heals.

According to VFW Commander-in-Chief James E. Nier, "We are delighted to help bring this powerful memorial to millions who may not have otherwise been able to see it. While the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is undoubtedly the most significant memorial for Vietnam veterans, the healing experience has effected veterans and individuals touched by all wars." VFW Posts and Departments are encouraged to bring The Wall that Heals to their area. Availability of The Wall that Heals can be determined by calling the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Inc. at (202) 393-0090.

VFW 'buys into' The Wall That Heels (own).

VFW "Headquarters" acted against the wishes of many of its members.

It's the first time VVMF stole "The Moving Wall from Vietnam Combat Veterans, Ltd. (VCV, Ltd.) and it wasactually 'produced' by contractors of Lake County VetZ (ala, Stanley Adler - a proven liar and, like Scruggs, a money grubber).

'Scruggs Speak' for, "OK, this is how we can 'justify' our doing what VCV, Ltd. Has been doing for 15 years, already.

Actually, The Wall That Heels (own) has the names presented in a font which does not even approximate the font of the name images on The Wall in D.C. and on The Moving Wall (both of which were made from the exact same negatives). Additionally, The Wall That Heels (own) has many names which are not in their proper position.

VET-NET has received several reports that name rubbings from The Wall That Heels (own) are not readable.

'Scruggs Speak' for, "OK, here's where we can sell advertising space.".

"year-long sponsorship" = 'Scruggs Speak' for, "We can hit them for another fifty grand NEXT year!".

Even more advertising space. Use the names of our fallen comrades-in-arms to promote membership

'Nier Speak' for, "Naw, I don't mind a rip-off of The Moving Wall! I mean, what the hell, the thing is being 'triple paid for' by us, Operation TNT (ala Ted Turner & his wife, Hanoi Jane) and everyone who sponsors it pays out the ying yang!".

'Nier Speak' for, "OK, you guys, shell out the bucks so Scruggs can further abuse the good intentions of those who really give a damn.".
